Why Do I Have Stubborn Stomach Fat?Share this article
A look at why some of us find it harder to shift our fat than others.
If you’re like the majority of women, you can bet there’s something on your body you’ve had enough of – it could be stubborn stuck on fat on your hips or thighs that’s been there for years! I know I have, and although i’m one of the lucky ones to be able to shift it through diet and excercise, I know many of my patients aren’t.
So let’s talk about why that fat is there in the first place. Actually, there’s a real difference between stubborn fat and normal fat that just moves – annoying right!?
Fat cells consist of 2 types of fat receptors (a receptor is something that causes something to happen, for example fat burn).
We have two kinds of receptor we are worried about – Alpha 2 and the Beta 2. Alpha 2 receptors are the evil ones, that STOP fat being burnt, whereas the Beta 2, are ones that HELP fat burning. Fat cells have both receptors and this is the reason why some people burn more fat than others dependent on this ratio.
Find it hard to burn fat? It has more Alpha receptors, and that’s where the problem lies. Now, you can exercise like an army veteran and you will have some effect on this fat, but for many of you, it just will not budge. That’s where some of my treatments come in, such as CoolSculpting which freezes the fat off your body.
One of the other main reasons behind stubborn fat staying there is genetics. Sometimes, you can slog away at the gym and be bashing the treadmill without any effect on your hips or stomach – and that can be partly due to a hereditory issue. More often than not, however, it’s actually just your diet and you probably have to make much more drastic changes.
What can I do?
You can try dieting and exercise treatment methods, such as juice dieting and other solutions, but for the fastest treatment available CoolSculpt and Aqualyx are two treatments that can work side by side if needed, where there are lots of spots of stubborn fat.
I have had excellent results with both treatments, but it’s not suitable for everyone. You need to come and book an appointment with me and talk about where you have fat issues, so we can work out a schedule to get rid of it.
