CoolSculpting Fat Removal

The CoolSculpting treatment is the world’s #1 non-invasive fat-reduction procedure and is administered by Dr Nyla’s team of medical professionals at the Medispa clinics in Cheshire, Liverpool and Harley Street London.

It’s an innovative way to contour your body by freezing unwanted fat away with no surgery or downtime. With more than 3 million CoolSculpting treatments performed worldwide, people everywhere are getting a better view of themselves, thanks to the one-of-a-kind CoolSculpting procedure.

CoolSculpting works with cryolipolysis. This works by cooling fat cells to the point of almost freezing. Fat cells freeze at a higher temperature to the cells in other surrounding tissues, which allows CoolSculpting to safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to fat cells underneath the skin. The treatment causes the fat cells to crystallise and undergo natural cell death (apoptosis). Over time your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells, leaving you with a more sculpted physique.

The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure is the only FDA-cleared,* non-surgical fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise. The results are proven, noticeable, and lasting—so you’ll look great from every angle.

CoolSculpting FAQ's

Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?

Good candidates for CoolSculpting have noticeable bulges in certain areas. It is not a weight loss solution, but can be used to debulk large areas. Every individual is different and a one-to-one consultation will allow us to determine if CoolSculpting is right for you.

What happens during a CoolSculpting session?

It is important to have a thorough consultation and to determine a personalised treatment plan for you. This will also involve taking a thorough medical history and taking some photographs to document your starting point before treatment.
You will then lay on the couch whilst we attach and program the CoolSculpting machine. Treatments take 1 to 2 hours depending on the area. Feel free to bring a book or your laptop if you would like to do some work. We have a television and Apple TV which you can use as well. Just lie back and relax! When the treatment is over we will vigorously massage the treated area.

Does CoolSulpting hurt?

During the first few minutes of treatment you may feel some pressure, deep pulling and intense cold. This soon dissipates, and most people don't experience any further discomfort throughout the treatment. Occasionally you may feel tugging, pinching, numbness or slight discomfort.

When will I see the results of CoolSculpting?

You may notice improvements from 3 weeks onwards. Maximum results will be seen at around 2 months, with ongoing improvements up to 6 months as more fat cells are eliminated from the body.

Are there any side effects of CoolSculpting?

Some people will not experience any side effects from CoolSculpting, but there are certain side effects that may occur:
Temporary numbness - this can persist for around a month in some cases, although it usually disappears quickly
Redness, swelling or firmness of the treated area.
Bruising can occur in some people.
Tingling, stinging or pain can occur in some people after treatment.

How many CoolSculpting sessions will I need?

This depends on your personal goals and treatment plan, and we will be able to advise you better during your consultation.

Who should avoid CoolSculpting?

There are very few contra-indications to CoolSculpting, but patients with cryoglobulinaemia or paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria should avoid treatment. It is also important to note that CoolSculpting is not a treatment for obesity.

Which body areas can be treated with CoolSculpting?

We can treat most areas of the body - the abdomen, flanks, bra fat pads, inner and outer thighs, and under arms. We can use a combination of treatment points to achieve the best results for you.

Do I need to avoid any activities or follow a special diet after CoolSculpting?

You can return to normal activity immediately after your treatment - it is entirely non-invasive with no downtime. You do not need to alter your eating or exercise habits after CoolSculpting - just continue to follow a normal balanced diet and exercise program. No additional supplements are needed either.

Is CoolSculpting safe?

CoolSculpting is the only fat freezing treatment which has been approved by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration in the USA). Multiple research papers have been published about CoolSculpting and over a million treatments have been performed. You can be assured you are receiving the best treatment available.

How is CoolSculpting different from other fat freezing treatments?

Other competitor products may claim to have FDA clearance or have research papers published about them, but this is not the case. All research published to date is with CoolSculpting. FDA clearance must be obtained for an individual device rather than for a treatment principle. There are several patented aspects of CoolSculpting which make it safer and more effective than other products:
Freeze Detect® technology is unique to CoolSculpting, and senses if your skin is being frozen rather than just your fat. If the sensors are triggered an alarm sounds, and we can halt treatment. This protects you from serious complications such as cold burns and ulcers, which are recognised complications with other machines.
CoolSculpting has 5 different attachments meaning we are able to treat many different body areas, unlike other products available.
CoolSculpting is a CE marked Class IIa medical device

How soon will I notice results from CoolSculpting?

Having treated the areas of your body which were most prone to fat deposition any future weight gain would be in a more even distribution. However we have found that most people who have CoolSculpting take even better care of themselves afterwards!

CoolSculpting aftercare.

Be certain to adhere the following post-treatment instructions:

CLEAN - use a gentle cleanse and tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 72 hours and gently dry the treated skin. Always make sure that your hands are clean when touching the treated area.

HEAL - Serum antioxidants are recommended post-treatment as the properties are ideal to help heal the skin. These products can help soothe the skin and lessen irritation.

HYDRATE - Following your treatment, your skin may feel direr than normal. Hyaluronic Acid is a great ingredient to hydrate and restore the skin back to perfect balance.

MAKEUP - It is recommended that makeup should not be applied for 24 hours after the procedure. Do not apply any makeup with a makeup brush, especially if it is not clean.

What type of results should I expect?

You may start to see changes in as early as three weeks after your CoolSculpting procedure, and will experience the most dramatic results after one to three months. Your body will continue to naturally process the injured fat cells from your body for approximately four months after your procedure.

Results vary from person to person. You may decide additional treatments are necessary to achieve your desired outcome. Although highly unlikely, it is possible that you will not experience and noticeable result from the procedure.

It is important that after your procedure you don't take any anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen for up to 2 weeks.
