About Tear Trough Filler

What are tear trough fillers?
-
Tear troughs are physical hollows under the eyes that cast a shadow that may make you look tired and aged, and are generally harder to cover and reduce than eye bags and dark circles. Tear troughs can be brought on by ageing as the skin in the area becomes thinner and facial fat descends under the eye, casting a shadow across the area.
They can also be genetic and appear in young people as well. Dermal fillers are an ideal treatment for tear troughs as they work by adding volume from beneath the skin. This way, they can fill the hollows under the eyes and create a smooth, brightened, and more youthful appearance.

How do Tear Trough Fillers Work?
-
The tear trough area will require a soft and smooth dermal filler to be applied, so that the eyes can remain expressive. The treatment is administered in small amounts via specifically placed injections, using a very fine needle. The filler produces an instant result that works to fill in the hollows beneath the eye, creating a subtle rejuvenation of the eye area. The skin looks fuller and smoother, dark circles and eye bags are erased, and a youthful appearance is restored.

What are the benefits of tear trough fillers?

-
Am I suitable for tear trough fillers?
-
Tear trough fillers may be suitable for those who are affected by the tired look of hollows beneath the eyes, which can also be accompanied by dark circles and/or eye bags.
A naturally, youthful and refreshed look can be achieved through the expertise of Dr Nyla and her team who will put together a bespoke treatment plan that addresses your individual needs and provides the best possible outcome.
-
Is tear trough filler treatment safe?
-
At Medispa Cheshire, Dr Nyla uses Hyaluronic Acid fillers for this treatment. They are FDA-approved and are safe to use around the delicate area of the eyes. As a biodegradable product, HA dermal fillers are used to treat many concerns on the face. Their results help to create a subtle rejuvenation or enhancement of the features, which smooths and lifts the skin.
-
Does the treatment hurt?
-
A topical numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area prior to administration. This will help to minimise any discomfort that the procedure may cause, as the eye area can be sensitive.
-
Are there any side effects or risks with tear trough fillers?
-
Mild to moderate swelling and redness can be expected following this treatment. After effects are usually temporary and will have disappeared after a few days. Other complications will be discussed at the consultation, along with any advice that can help, should any side effects cause discomfort.
-
What is the aftercare advice?
-
As a completely non-surgical treatment, there is very little downtime with all dermal filler treatments, including tear trough rejuvenation; however, there are a few things you should avoid to speed up the recovery process, prevent any complications and ensure optimum results after the treatment.
You should avoid wearing makeup, touching your face or using any skincare other than gentle cleansers and warm (not hot) water for around six hours after treatment at a minimum, and ideally should avoid these things until the next day.
You should also avoid strenuous exercise, extreme heat such as saunas and steam rooms and chemical exfoliants such as AHAs for around 24 hours. Finally, you should avoid non-essential blood-thinning products, such as ibuprofen and aspirin. If you experience any pain or discomfort after treatment, you can take other painkillers like paracetamol.
It is common to experience mild to moderate swelling, bruising, tenderness and itching in the treatment area, as well as small red marks where the filler has been injected, though this should subside after a few days and be completely gone within a few weeks. If you experience any extreme discomfort or symptoms worsen, contact the clinic immediately.
-
How soon will I see results after tear trough filler?
-
Results are visible immediately after treatment, with continued improvement as any mild swelling settles over the following few days. Final results are usually best assessed at around 1–2 weeks.
-
How long do tear trough filler results last?
-
Results typically last between 9 and 18 months, depending on the type of filler used, your metabolism, and the treatment area. Because the under-eye area has less movement than other parts of the face, results here often last longer than in areas like the lips.
-
Can tear trough filler fix dark circles?
-
Tear trough filler can improve the appearance of dark circles caused by volume loss or shadowing under the eyes. However, if dark circles are due to pigmentation or skin thinning, additional treatments may be recommended for the best results.
