Obagi Skin Peel Treatments
Obagi skin peel treatments are effective solutions for improving the condition of the skin. Working to gently resurface the superficial and deeper layers of the complexion, a number of common skin concerns can be addressed, including: skin laxity, enlarged pores, pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. At our clinics in Cheshire, Liverpool and Mayfair in London, anti-ageing products and procedures by Obagi are a popular choice. Doctor Nyla’s team of skilled specialists understand the range of skin treatments that Obagi has available, and can apply their knowledge to selecting the right treatment for each patient.
Our clinics use Obagi Blue peel treatments. The procedure involves the application of a solution to the face or neck, with the number of coats required being determined by the patient’s individual concerns. The solution contains trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and is designed to remove the top layers of the skin that may be old and damaged, to allow for a new, healthier complexion to shine out. After a few days the skin will start to shed from which a new and healthier layer of skin can then emerge.
The visible appearance of the final result often takes around 2 weeks to develop when the skin-shedding process is complete. As well as a glowing complexion, your skin can look smoother, clearer, fuller and more lifted. Maintaining this look may require regular treatments, for which your practitioner is best placed to recommend.
The solution used for the Obagi Blue skin peel can be applied in multiple layers, according to your specific concerns. Discussing these concerns at your consultation, along with your general health and medical history, will determine whether or not you are deemed suitable for this treatment. You may not be considered if you are knowingly allergic to any of the ingredients, or if you have an existing skin irritation / infection or disorder.
It is important that you only undergo Obagi skin peel treatment when it is being performed by a trained professional, such as the experts at Doctor Nyla. It is considered to be safe by many clinicians, however it can be slightly more invasive than other light chemical peels available on the market.
The application of the solution does not cause you any pain, but you may feel some slight tingling as the solution develops.
In the few days that follow the treatment, you may find that your face / neck looks slightly red and swollen. After 2 or 3 days the shedding process may begin, which can last for up to 10 days. The flakes of skin that expel are usually very small in size and can often be barely noticeable to others.
The new skin layer may be slightly sensitive at first. Therefore you will need to be extra careful when out in the sun, ensuring you wear a high SPF. Your practitioner will be able to recommend suitable products to use on your skin, until your new skin is more mature and resilient.
