Older forms of skin resurfacing – and this is still common in many clinics – used CO2 laser treatment.

While this option can be effective, it has a number of drawbacks and no benefits compared to Ultrapulse.

The CO2 option is a blunt tool – it removes the entire top layer of the skin to then expose the newer layer beneath. Whilst this approach can certainly be effective, it also has the potential to lead to lengthy recovery times and can lead to scarring.

UltraPulse uses fractional laser technology, this enables it to target deeper layers of the skin without scarring the surface. The Ultrapulse beams penetrate deeply into the skin, but do this quickly so as not to damage surrounding tissue. New collagen and elastin creation is stimulated, this then restoring vibrancy and volume to the skin and addressing the imperfections.

The Lumenis laser also leaves some skin unaffected in between the channels of treatment it creates, this enabling the skin to heal far more quickly.

The results produced at Doctor Nyla’s London clinic are astounding.

It is far better to see results than to talk of profound impact, and try to describe the change.

Instead, please see before and after images on our main treatment page, these are pictures of patients using the same lighting conditions to create fair comparisons. As you will see, some look much younger, others have scarring or other concerns treated.

In all cases, the patient still look themselves, there is no look of €˜work having been done’. They simply look a great version of themselves, a person who now feels more confident and looks more vibrant, youthful and energised.

Before and After Images.

Results may be visible immediately, but full results will typically be apparent after three to six months as the new collagen is created.

Suitability for Laser Skin Resurfacing

Most people who have concerns such as those listed above will be suitable for laser skin resurfacing, but there will be exceptions.

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding would not be a candidate for this treatment, nor would those who have taken Accutane in the past six months.

However, as an experienced Doctor, Doctor Nyla would always factor in a prospective patient’s full medical history when assessing suitability for any treatment. She would also ensure that it could deliver the results that are sought.

In many cases, a patient has a desire to address aspects of their appearance but are not necessarily sure which treatment would be the best – after all, we offer a huge range of leading options.

We are always happy to offer advice and to suggest a plan of best action to achieve the changes you seek. This might be through Ultrapulse, it might be through another treatment or it could be that a bespoke package of treatments can produce the profound change that is sought.

Combined treatments can create what is known as a non-surgical facelift, this has all the benefits of a full, deep plane facelift, but without the expense, invasive surgery or lengthy period of recovery. Doctor Nyla provides her own non-surgical facelift, the Transformation Facelift. This can make a patient look 10 years younger in just six weeks!

This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, and the time taken to perform the treatment depends on the requirements of the patient.

Once the treatment area has been fully anaesthetised, we carefully apply the laser until the entire area has been resurfaced. The damaged skin is safely removed to allow fresh, unblemished skin to develop underneath.

Depending on the treatment area, you can expect the session to last approximately 30-40 minutes. During the treatment you may feel a warm sensation as the laser is applied but you should not feel any discomfort.

Post Treatment Recovery

After laser skin resurfacing, patients can go about much of their day as usual, although some time off work is quite common.

Pain is minimal and would be managed through standard painkillers.

You may experience some flaking of skin, scabbing and peeling – this is normal and should naturally resolve itself inside two weeks.

Patients should be careful to allow the newly exposed layers of skin to heel, this would include limiting exposure to direct sun and regular application of sunscreen.
