Dermal and lip fillers are an under-regulated area and almost anyone can set themselves up as a practitioner. This can lead to poor results but is also a safety risk – people without qualifications injecting fillers into a patient’s face.
With Dr. Nyla you are assured to have results that match your hopes for the procedure, and these administered safely and professionally in a wonderfully relaxing Harley Street setting.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers and an injectable that are typically used to address signs of ageing. They contain hyaluronic acid, this a substance that occurs naturally in the body, this leading to collagen creation.
Collagen creation is vital to address signs of ageing as it is collagen depletion that leads to so many of the lines and wrinkles we are all prone to as the years pass.
As we age, collagen creation drops and eventually ceases – dermal fillers address this. They effectively address the ageing from within, in a natural way by stimulating the regeneration of the layers under the skin.
It is worth noting that dermal fillers are different to Botox, Botox also addresses signs of ageing, but this through suppressing signals to muscles that contract and cause lines. The two tackle different aspects of ageing and so are often used in combination to create an overall more youthful appearance.
Dermal fillers are suitable for treating a wide range of signs of ageing.
The following list is not exhaustive, but gives examples of common uses for these fillers.
Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)
A lack of jawline definition and jowl softening
Deep folds and wrinkles
They can also be used to:
Reduce tear troughs
Augment the lips
Enhance the cheekbones
Remodel the chin
Reshape the nose
The results achieve depend in part on the practitioner and their level of skill and experience. Administered poorly there is the danger of results where there is little or no visible change or, worse still, the clear look of excessive work having been carried out.
Perhaps the best way to ascertain the type of results that can be achieved is to look through our image gallery of past patients, this covers a wide range of parts of the body.
Please view the gallery on our main treatment page for dermal fillers.
The results can knock years off a person’s appearance.
On top of the physical change, they can also have a profound impact on confidence and self-esteem. We all like to look our best and the signs of ageing, or concerns such as acne scarring can hamper our confidence. This can impact work, relationships and all aspects of our life.
The results achievable are visible in a person’s appearance but they can also be measured in what they do for a person’s overall well being.
Dermal fillers can be combined with other treatments such as skin peels, Botox and others to create what is known as a non-surgical facelift.
This can have the visible impact of a full face lift, yet without the expense or lengthy revery period – nor the need for general anaesthetic and major surgery.
Dermal fillers alone can also create the ‘8 Point Lift’, this is a revolutionary treatment that creates a youthful glow all through the use of fillers, restoring volume in eight targeted areas. Only a small amount of filler is typically needed in one area.
One huge advantage of this approach is that it means that all aspects of appearance are addressed, the whole face looks more youthful in unison.
Popular Dermal Filler Treatments
Two popular filler treatments are tear trough fillers and dermal cheek fillers.
Tear trough fillers fillers are used to smooth and minimise the appearance of bags and lines under the eyes, this results in a fresh and bright appearance around the eyes.
Cheek fillers are perfect for sunken cheeks, these a common complaint as we age and a condition that makes us look older than we may want.
The fillers here work to plump the cheeks, making us visibly more youthful.
Results from fillers are not permanent but they can last for up to 12 months, after which it is common to have a further treatment.
Results are visible immediately, though there may be mild swelling that hides the results for a few days.
After Care for dermal fillers
A huge advantage of fillers is that there is no major recuperation – in fact you can simply go about the rest of your day as usual.
There is no general anaesthetic to be recovered from, no stitches to heal, no weeks of results settling down.
Instead, there is at most mild, short term pain that can be easily managed with painkillers and some potential swelling.
