Acne Treatment Options
Acne is an inflammation of the skin that commonly appears as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples or spots. This condition will often affect the face, neck and back, with a common misconception that this is a condition for the young.
Whilst it is true to say that hormonal changes during puberty are associated with acne outbreaks, this condition can also appear in adulthood, pregnancy, menopause and sometimes as a reaction to aggravators such as chocolate or skin creams.
The most frequent reason someone may experience acne is because the pores on the skin have become clogged with either excess sebum, dead skin cells or both. A blocked pore often presents as a blackhead and if or when infection sets in, this will then create a white head which is filled with a little pus.
Much as it is tempting to pick or squeeze acne spots, this should really be avoided where possible so as not to further the infection by spreading debris and bacteria from the hands or fingernails to the affected area. Equally, picking or squeezing can also spread the infection to unaffected areas and therefore further enhance the break out.
Some contributing factors to acne can be environmental such as pollution (therefore a great skincare regime is recommended), or due to lifestyle, like smoking, diet or lack of sleep.
Acne can be treated at Dr Nyla Medispa Clinics following a consultation to determine the cause of the outbreaks, and treatment can be continued at home with the use of specialist skincare..
