What is Botox?
Botox is an anti-wrinkle treatment that contains botulinum toxin.
When injected into a muscle, botulinum toxin interrupts nerve signals and prevents the muscle from contracting. The effect is to soften your lines and wrinkles, reducing their appearance.
When used over time, Botox can help to prevent further lines and wrinkles from developing.
Botox is one of the most popular and effective anti-ageing treatments. In the hands of someone as skilled as Dr Nyla, it is a safe and quick procedure that will rejuvenate your features and boost your self-confidence.
How can botulinum toxin injections help reduce the signs of ageing?
Facial Lines
In Dr Nyla’s skilled hands, Botox can reduce the appearance of lines all over the face and neck, including crow’s feet, creases between the eyebrows, lip lines, and nasolabial lines.
Downturned mouth
As well as lines and wrinkles, ageing can cause the facial muscles to sag. A typical result of this drooping is the development of a downward-turning mouth. Dr Nyla uses Botox injections to lift the corners of the mouth subtly.
Ageing of the neck
Dr Nyla uses Botox to relax contracted muscles in the neck that cause horizontal ‘necklace lines’ and vertical ‘platysmal bands,’ giving the neck a smoother and more youthful appearance. This procedure is called the ‘Nefertiti Neck lift’
Are there any other uses for anti-wrinkle injections?
Botox injections are a versatile treatment that can be used to combat medical as well as cosmetic conditions.
Excessive sweating
Many people suffer from excessive perspiration, especially on the hands and underarms. Botox injections can block nerve signals to the sweat glands relieving this distressing condition.
Migraines
Migraine sufferers often experience persistent attacks that can be debilitating. Botox injections are used to block the release of the neurotransmitters that cause migraines.
Gummy Smile
If your smile reveals more of your gums than you would like, then Botox injections can be used to relax the upper lip so that it covers more of your teeth and gums when you smile.
Blushing
Excessive flushing of the face, neck, and chest can affect self-confidence and even cause social anxiety.
Botox injections are an effective solution when they are used to block the nerves that control blood circulation.

Is Botox painful?
Dr Nyla and her team are very experienced and know how to make you feel comfortable during the procedure. The needles that Dr Nyla uses are extremely fine, and she applies a numbing cream to the injection sites before proceeding.
How long does the treatment take?
After 18 years and over 65 000 treatments, this team knows what it is doing. Typically, your treatment will take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of sites injected.
Is downtime required?
Some clients report tenderness, swelling, itching, or bruising around the injection sites, but this is only temporary, and your skin will recover within 24 hours. Try to treat your skin with extra care for the hours after your treatment; avoid rubbing, touching, or applying makeup to your face if possible.
You should avoid extremes of temperature, such as hot showers, baths, or saunas, and protect your skin from direct sunlight for up to a week after anti-wrinkle injections.
Dr Nyla will give you lots of advice about caring for your skin and preserving the benefits of your Botox treatment.
How long does Botox last?
Most clients enjoy the benefits of their treatment for up to four months, but this can vary between individuals.
