In the clip, that has now been viewed over 2,000 times, Mercedes used the suction from empty bottles to pull her skin up.

In the caption, she told her 23.4k followers: “How to tighten your skin and have clear skin. Drink up (water) pour up (water).”

She continued: “Squeezing empty water bottles and moving upward motion to keeping blood flow circulating to tone and firm the skin.”

And after applying a little bit on makeup in the clip, she added: “BTW this is a natural no lashes kinda look especially when I go to the gym.”

In the comments section, her followers gave their review of the hack. One person wrote: “This is great love it!”

While another added: “Facial cupping is my fav!”

Cupping has become increasingly popular over the last few years, with the likes of Jennifer Anniston and Gwyneth Paltrow testing out the trend.

But what do experts have to say on the trend?

But Dr Nyla Raja, a cosmetic dermatology GP and founder at Wilmslow Medispa, Manchester, told OK! Online: “I don’t see any benefits of using water bottles to firm the skin. To actually lift and tighten the skin, the deeper layers need to be targeted, something which can’t be done with water bottles. Also, it is important to treat the skin with care, especially the delicate area around the eyes. If what you’re doing at me hurts – stop!”

She continued: “On younger patients, Exilis is a great option for skin tightening. It uses radio frequency to deliver controlled heat under the skin. On more mature skin I recommend Ultherapy – a non-invasive lift treatment which stimulates collagen growth. It gibes a ‘natural’ looking tightening of the skin on the face and neck.”

In you’re after a more traditional method to give your complexion an instant facelift, skincare gems like Transformulas’ FaceContour & Tightening Crème, £36.95, instantly lifts skin while WUNDERLIFT’s Anti-Wrinkle Serum, £19.95, helps smooth out skin over time.

Recently, another beauty blogger Sukhi Man took to Instagram to reveal her clear skin hack, which involves using dental floss sticks to get rid of blackheads.

But Dr Nyla Raja also told us: “Open comedones or blackheads, as they are more commonly known, occur when dead skin cells and bacteria block pores. They turn black as they are exposed to air.”

Dr Raja warned: “It is important to be gentle with your skin and avoid using sharp tools, particularly when removing blackheads.”
