What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable treatment designed to restore support within the deeper layers of the skin, though it is not classed as a traditional dermal filler. Offering a powerful approach to rejuvenation, it helps to address visible signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, loss of volume, skin laxity, and a tired or dehydrated complexion.
Profhilo intervenes in the dermal tissue repair process, in cases of acne or scars. The physiological process of ageing tissue, in presence of alterations in elastic fibres and collagen. As well as, in cases of loss or compromised adipose tissue. Tissue remodelling is easily obtained in only two sessions (4-week interval), using all aesthetic injection techniques, in the superficial subcutaneous layer.
Depending on your level of concern 1 or 2 treatments may be needed, with a single maintenance treatment carried out a couple of months later. The outcome will usually have developed within 8 weeks, often showing a smoother, tighter and more lifted appearance.

How Does Profhilo Work?

Dr Nyla performs her Profhilo procedures at the Medispa clinics in Alderley Edge in Cheshire, Liverpool and Mayfair in London.
The BAP technique is used to administer this treatment – whereby the 5 main anatomically receptive areas of the face are identified. Once injected beneath the skin, Profhilo absorbs into the tissues and works with them to help rebuild a strong structure. This restoration of the natural fabric of the dermis sees an increase in levels of collagen and elastin, for a remodelled complexion that is fuller and has more bounce.
70% of subjects show an improvement of at least one grade according to the FVLS (Facial Volume Loss Scale Range 2-3). Significant improvement in skin hydration after only one treatment and in skin elasticity after two treatments. Significant improvement of satisfaction levels after the second treatment.

Am I suitable for profhilo?

Many people, both men and women, are often found to be suitable for Profhilo. The treatment is frequently requested by adults of all ages, ranging from those in their 30’s to those in their 50’s.

Is profhilo treatment safe?

Profhilo treatment is considered to be a safe treatment that is FDA approved. Subtle, natural looking results are produced by the treatment’s ability to remodel the deeper skin tissues, rather than to ‘fill’ the space and replace the substances that have been lost.

Does profhilo hurt?

Profhilo is an injectable treatment and therefore may be a little uncomfortable upon application. At Dr Nyla we offer the application of a topical numbing prior to treatment, to help minimise any sensitivity.

Are there any profhilo side effects or risks?

The after effects that are usually experienced following Profhilo can include: swelling, bruising and redness. In less common cases, a person may develop an infection, allergic reaction or nerve damage, however the IBSA declares that this is rare.

Is there any aftercare to consider?

It is not common for a person’s day to be significantly disrupted as a result of the Profhilo treatment. It is important, however, for you to ensure that you do not touch the treated area for around 6 hours after treatment – including applying make-up. The experts at Dr Nyla also recommend that you avoid strenuous activity for up to 24 hours.

How does Profhilo work?

The use of the bap technique identifies the 5 anatomically receptive areas of the face with an absence of large vessels and nerve branches, therefore, minimising the risks while maximising the diffusion of the product in the malar and submalar areas. 0.2ml of Profhilo is then injected at the superficial subcutaneous layer.

What complications are involved?

As with any injectable there are minor risks including bruising and swelling, as well as infection, allergic reaction, vascular compromise and nerve damage; although IBSA claims these are rare.

How quickly can I expect to see improvements?

After four weeks patients reported having improvement in lines and tightness of their skin. After eight weeks there was a definite lifting and tightening in the skin.

How regularly should I get profhilo treatments?

At the beginning you will receive two treatments with a one month interval, followed by a maintenance treatment after two months depending on the level of ageing. Effects will last for six months.

Which areas of the body can be treated with Profhilo?

You can get treatment on your face, neck, décolleté, hands, and arms.

Is a Profhilo a filler or biorevitaliser?
-
NEITHER. Profhilo is something new and indicated for skin bioremodelling. Therefore, defining Profhilo in either of these two areas is a losing strategy.
