What Is a Carbon Laser Peel?

By using carbon liquid as the active ingredient in this treatment, we are able to target skin concerns such as oily skin, blackheads, enlarged pores, dull skin and acne across the face and body. The carbon penetrates deep into the layers of the skin when applied to the treatment area and as the laser is passed over the area, it destroys the liquid carbon, removing the contaminants, oils, and dead skin cells along with it.

The liquid carbon which is applied to the skin has the ability to absorb excess sebum (oil) and impurities from deep within the pores, so when the laser is used on these areas, the contaminants from within the skin are destroyed along with the carbon particles. As the carbon particles are destroyed, dead skin cells and blackheads are also removed which results in an effective exfoliation for the skin. Say hello to softer, more radiant and more even skin and a reduction in pores.

Heat energy is also produced as the laser is attracted to the carbon on the skin which leads to additional benefits for your skin. The bacteria responsible for acne on the surface of the skin is reduced which means fewer pimples and breakouts. It also reduces the size of the sebaceous (oil-producing) glands, resulting in less oil production and a reduction in congested pores.

It’s ability to deeply cleanse and exfoliate the skin results in a more radiant appearance, with smaller pores and less oil on the surface. As a non-invasive procedure, the carbon peel can deliver incredible results, quickly and effectively. A course of between 2 and 6 treatments may be needed to achieve the best results for you – according to your conditions and expected outcome.

Am I suitable for carbon peel?: The carbon peel can be suitable for many people who are looking to revitalise their appearance. Attending a consultation will determine the benefits for you, depending on your personal skin concerns. A more even tone and texture of the complexion can be achieved, as well as softer wrinkles, less inflammation and clearer pores.
Is carbon peel treatment safe?: The carbon solution used within this treatment is not harsh on the skin, and is therefore considered to be a safer option than other facial peels on the aesthetic market. As well as being gentle on the complexion, the treatment process does not use any form of scrubbing, which can irritate the skin.
Does carbon laser peel treatment hurt?: Many patients will agree that the carbon peel is a virtually pain-free treatment. You may feel a tingling sensation as the laser is applied, along with a warming feeling within the skin.
Are there any side effects or risks of carbon peel treatment?: There are rarely any complications experienced following the carbon peel. It is normal for your skin to look a little flushed and feel slightly tingly, after the treatment. These effects will often ease within a few hours and should not cause disruption to your day. You are able to resume your daily activities immediately after your treatment is complete.
Is there any aftercare to consider?: In the hours that follow the treatment you may find it beneficial to apply aloe vera to sensitive skin. You should endeavour to keep the skin clean and dry, avoiding wearing heavy make-up. Although Dr Nyla encourages everyone to use SPF on a daily basis, it may be more important after the carbon peel as the skin may be more sensitive to the sun for up to 1 month. Increasing the level of protection may be useful, using SPF of 50.
What results will I see?: Immediately after your first Carbon Peel treatment, you’ll notice an instant brightening to your skin. Your skin will feel renewed, smooth and softer than ever before. The size of your pores will be significantly smaller and oil production will be noticeably reduced. These results will only continue to increase the more treatments you have.
How many carbon peel sessions do I need?: The number of sessions needed will, of course, depend on what you are hoping to achieve with the Carbon Peel. We do recommend a course of 2-6 treatments, carried out every 2-3 weeks to give unbeatable, long-lasting results.
