How Does Ultherapy Work?

Ultherapy uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) which is directed into the lower layers of the skin using a hand-held device. When the ultrasound waves reach the tissues, they have a warming effect.

The increase in temperature contracts the lower tissues which in turn tightens and lifts the surface layer of the skin.

The warmth also encourages the body to increase the production of collagen and elastin. These are proteins that are essential to the elasticity and firmness of the skin.

Young skin has high levels of both collagen and elastin but levels begin to decline with age causing lines, wrinkles and lax skin on the face ad body.

After Ultherapy treatment, the skin on your face will be smoother and the contours of your chin, jawline, eye and brow area, neck, and decolletage will be firmer and more defined.

Clients often consult Dr Nyla because they are unhappy with the texture of the skin on their thighs and upper arms. These are often the first places on the body to show collagen deficit. Ultherapy in Liverpool can make a significant improvement to the loose and sagging skin in these areas.

Ultherapy isn’t painful and many of our clients find it a relaxing experience. You may be aware of a warming or tingling sensation as the ultrasound targets the tissues in the areas being treated.

The treated areas may be a little tender for a while but most clients find that they can resume their daily activities straightaway.

You may see an improvement in the texture and firmness of your skin after one treatment session however, optimum results will take up to six months to develop.

The production rate of collagen and elastin will remain high during this period and so your skin will keep getting better.

The longevity of the results varies between individuals, but they can last up to two years. Your skin will continue to age and the levels of collagen and elastin production will start to decline again as the effects of the treatment wear off.
