Dermal lip fillers can last up to twelve months, depending on the brand used. They are made up of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally produced in the body. The longevity of the lip injections depends on the type of hyaluronic acid fillers used:
- Restylane – six months.
- Juvederm – six months.
- Belotero – six to eighteen months.
- Teosyal – nine months to a year.

This may result in swelling and soreness around the treatment areas. However, this is nothing to worry about; understand that swelling is a natural response and may last a couple of days after treatment.

When can you eat or drink after having your lips filled?
There is no limitation, however, it is recommended that you wait until the topical anaesthetic has worn off before eating. For the first twenty-four hours, it is recommended to avoid chewy or hard-to-eat foods that may disturb the fillers and injection areas.
Alcohol can be used as a blood thinner, so for the integrity of the lip fillers, it is recommended to avoid drinking alcohol for a few days after the treatment. Drinking alcohol may increase the chances of inflammation and more severe side effects.
