Lustre Light is a tried and tested acne treatment that is a favourite with many of our patients at our medispa clinics in Cheshire, Birmingham, Liverpool and Mayfair in London. Acne is a concern that is not just experienced by teenagers; many adults can find they are affected by red and angry looking pimples, too. With hormones being one of the main contributors to the overproduction of sebum (a factor that often influences breakouts of acne), it makes sense that older adults, pregnant women and menopausal women can also develop spots.

As a noticeable condition that often causes both physical discomfort and emotional challenges, Lustre Light can help to reduce inflammation of the skin. This effective treatment uses the healing properties of blue light which works to destroy P.acnes on the surface of the skin – the bacteria that causes spots. When applied to the affected area at specific wavelengths, the blue light stimulates the bacteria which will then release a chemical called porphyrin. It is this chemical which will attach to the spots and eliminate the bacteria.

Doctor Nyla and her team are entirely focused on the well-being of their patients and all treatment plans and recommended solutions are chosen with your best interests at heart. Regular procedures may be needed to help achieve the clear complexion you desire, and Lustre light can be performed in combination with other skin rejuvenation treatments

Blue light contains healing properties that can eliminate bacteria on the skin. It is considered safe as it can target the bacteria specifically without damaging the surrounding skin and tissues. This treatment may be of risk to you if you are affected by photosensitivity, solar urticaria or actinic dermatitis and you may find that Doctor Nyla will not recommend this procedure for you.

Many of our patients are pleased that they can undergo Lustre Light without feeling any pain or discomfort. Acne can often cause tenderness and sensitivity to the skin, if a case is quite significant and to have a comfortable treatment is a welcome relief.

Doctor Nyla’s expert team are well trained and understand how using the correct depth of blue light is important to the welfare of the patient. In general, Lustre Light does not cause any damage to the skin or tissues, and to date, natural blue light therapy is not shown to produce any side effects.

Your practitioner will discuss how to care for your skin during your course of treatment with Lustre Light. Ensuring you use the right products for your individual skin type is important, especially when addressing acne. Doctor Nyla has a specialist you can talk to about suitable skincare products for your complexion, both during treatment and after.
