7 Things To Ask Before Having Botox

1. What is Botox®?

Botox is a safe way of reducing wrinkles and the signs of aging. The Botox name comes from the drug Botulinum toxin which is a protein and neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

2. How does it help with wrinkles?

What is a wrinkle? Wrinkles are typically formed perpendicular to the contracting muscle located directly beneath it. An example would be the forehead which is a vertical muscle, and when you perform movements that contract the muscle – such as raising your eyebrows – horizontal wrinkles will form over time.

We inject Botox into the muscle where it blocks nerve impulses to those tissues. The muscle activity that causes the lines is reduced, and without a contracting muscle beneath it, the skin has a difficult time wrinkling, leaving you with smoother skin.

3. Who Should Administer My Treatment?

With Botox® now being the norm and commonly used among females from their mid 20s, the industry has seen a boom meaning you can get botox® and other cosmetic treatments in almost all towns and cities.

However, this has led to non-medical professionals administering Botox® leaving patients at risk of both short term and long term side effects. Inexperienced practitioners can also use the wrong amount of the drug leaving you with a frozen look.

To be safe, always have your Botox® treatment done by a doctor and do not be scared to ask questions about their experience and qualifications.

4. What Are The Risks?

Botox® is a low risk and low invasive cosmetic treatment and is so safe you could have the injections in your lunch hour. However, with any type of drug, there are some risks involved. Once again, going to a qualified doctor with experience in the field will reduce the risks of anything going wrong. They can also talk you through what the possible risks are and the treatment can be tailored to you.

6. What Results Should I Expect?

Botox® can rejuvenate your look and manage the visible signs of aging for up to six months. Your treatment can be done within the hour and patients typically see the difference within a day after the treatment (but it can take longer).

But don’t take our word for it. Read what some of our patients have to say:
“Dr Nyla is an expert in her field. She spent a long time consulting with me really understanding what I wanted and why I wanted to enhance my facial features. Together we designed a package of facial treatments which would just make me look refreshed and boost my confidence. I really admire the skill set Dr Nyla possesses. She’s simply brilliant!”

Jenni Scott

“After visiting 4 or 5 different doctors I’ve finally got the perfect botox® with Dr Nyla”

Carrie Newman

“I tried a few doctors for botox®, but Nyla, only you seem to understand the parts of my face that need attention. Thanks again.”
